Our body is like a house that you live in. A home needs repair once in a while—fixing a leaky faucet or clogged plumbing. Your living house—your body—also needs regular attention. Every function and activity in your body—physical, emotional, mental, spiritual—is dependent upon the attention that you give it.
The elimination of undigested or fermented food and other waste products is as important as the proper digestion and assimilation of food. In fact, great danger lies in toxemia (the body filling with toxic poisons), which is the outcome of neglected accumulation and failure to expel feces, debris, and other waste matter from the body on a regular basis.
Few of us realize that failure to effectively eliminate waste products from the body causes so much fermentation and putrefaction that it can lead to disease and a shortened life. It has been acknowledged that much of ill health has its causes originating in a “dirty colon,” and therefore the body is unable to cleanse itself internally.
The colon is the final part of the digestive tract, extending from the cecum to the anus. It is about 5 feet long and has an average diameter of 2 ½ inches. The inner lining of the colon is equipped with sensitive nerves and glands responsible for the assimilation of food, especially vitamins, minerals, and water. These glands also help to eliminate body waste from the system. In the presence of healthy intestinal bacteria, certain vitamins are made and then absorbed.
According to one of the leading pioneers in naturopathic medicine, Dr. Bernard Jensen:
When the bowel is underactive and overburdened, toxic wastes are able to leak through the bowel wall and into the bloodstream—also known as leaky gut syndrome. The blood circulates these toxins throughout the body and deposits them into the tissues. Toxins accumulate and eventually alter cellular function. When this occurs, digestion becomes poor, leading to only partially digested material, and the body is unable to utilize nutrients needed for optimal health.
Food should pass through the body every eighteen hours. Any food that spoils, ferments, forms gas, or causes a disturbance in the bowel also affects the rest of the body. When the bowel is not taken care of, its responses become sluggish and underactive.
A group of over 60 of Great Britain’s most prodigious physicians and surgeons related constipation to over 299 different pathological conditions, including heart trouble, cancer, mental disorders of all kinds, arthritis, and many others.
A colonic irrigation gently cleanses and exercises the colon by filling and emptying the colon with warm and cool water alternately. During your colon irrigation, a trained technician skillfully massages your abdomen for the best results.
Colonics remove waste matter from the entire 5 feet of the colon, from rectum to cecum. Without removal, these toxins can be reabsorbed into the bloodstream and can cause many serious effects. Colonics re-tone the bowel and bring back normal bowel movements.
Enema: Uses about 2 quarts of water and usually flushes out only the lower end of the colon (the sigmoid colon), where feces collect.
Colonic: Flushes water throughout the entire colon, from rectum to cecum. A colonic can soften years of dried, hardened fecal crust lining the colon, and can remove gas, mucus, intestinal parasites, and undigested food particles.
Massage of the abdomen during the colonic and varied water temperatures improve the peristaltic (wave-like) motion of the colon and enhance vascular and lymphatic circulation. A colonic uses up to 15 gallons of water compared to the 2 quarts of an enema.
Is stress a factor in your life? As a child or as an adult, have you regularly eaten fried foods, highly processed foods, or foods containing white flour, white sugar, chemicals, red meat, salt, or alcohol? Have you ever smoked? Have you ever taken prescription drugs or used other drugs such as marijuana? Have you ever lived in an area with high smog concentration?
Rare is the person who can answer “no” to all of these questions. Unnatural stress and unnatural substances can play havoc with the sensitive colon.
One famous colon researcher believes that approximately 15 colonics can rebuild and rejuvenate the bowel and detoxify the body (to be followed, of course, by a healthy diet and proper living habits).
Although many clients have reported a big difference in the way they feel just after one colonic, we have found a series of colonics to be the most effective. Like the removal of plaster, the fecal buildup in the colon must be thoroughly soaked and saturated in order for removal to take place gradually, comfortably, and effectively.
Try to skip the meal before a colonic, if possible.
As you fast, more pent-up toxins begin to be released into your system for cleansing.
Eat lightly after a colonic or just use liquids.
Castor oil packs on your lower abdomen can be used the night before your colonic to soften impacted material and prepare the bowel for the greatest release of toxins.
Drink plenty of fluids the day before the colonic.
Colonic irrigations may last from 15 to 60 minutes. A typical colonic is about 40 minutes.
Also included in the treatment may be therapeutic coffee, chlorophyll, aloe vera, and/or bentonite implants.
A colonic washes out old toxic matter but also washes out some friendly bacteria. To replace normal colon bacteria, take 1–2 capsules of acidophilus or bifidus, or drink kefir (a naturally fermented dairy product).
Rest after your colonic! Allow your energy to go into internal healing, not outer activity.
It is best not to eat for several hours afterwards—or eat very light, easy-to-digest foods such as fruit or salads.
Drink plenty of fluids.
The idea of a colonic often reminds people of the smell and mess of an enema. Nothing could be further from the truth.
After the gentle insertion of a small tube into the rectum, sterilized surgical tubing carries water in and washes it out in a gently pressurized system. No mess, no fuss, no bother—you just relax in a professional atmosphere. Except for the brief insertion of the tube, you are completely covered with a sheet during your colonic.
You are in control of the situation at all times. Slight discomfort may occur briefly if you pass gas, old waste matter, or have an extremely congested colon, but as you release these old poisons, your colon will regain new vigor in its lifelong service to you.
Although people are often needlessly fearful, the standard comment after the actual experience is: “Why, that wasn’t at all the way that I imagined it!” Many look forward to the next one. Don’t let unfounded fears stop you from taking one of the most health-giving treatments available.
Colon irrigation works on raising the functioning of the whole body. Response to treatment is quicker and more effective after a series of colonics.
