Low Dose Allergen (LDA) Immunotherapy is primarily used to “turn off” an overactive immune system. Applicable conditions include: food, chemical, or environmental allergies and all autoimmune disease’s.
Dr. Lori Bouchard-Dickson and associates were trained and certified under the developer of LDA, Dr. W.A. Shrader (http://drshrader.com/) who worked alongside allergist Dr. Leonard M. McEwen on Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization Therapy in the 60’s.
Conventional “Immunotherapy” :
-Uses relatively high doses of a particular allergen, which can be dangerous
-The body is stimulated to make “blocking antibodies” which can block the portion of your immune that is overactive.
-Injections are done regularly, and can take years to be effective
-Uses extreme low dose concentrations of the allergen, dilutions are in the 6-8C range, making them 1,000,000,000,000 to 10,000,000,000,000,000-fold dilutions, with an enzyme mixture containing beta-glucoronidase – all of which are extremely safe.
-given sublingually (under the tongue), or in the forearm intradermally (the layer in the skin where your immune system is found)
-treatments are every 7-8 weeks, decreasing frequency as time goes on.
How dose LDA Immunotherapy work?
The extreme low dose allergen plus enzyme mixture improves signalling of regional and systemic lymph nodes. These lymph nodes produce T regulatory cells that induce desensitization to those allergens within a few days. T regulatory cells have a half-life of 40-80 days, with multiple treatments, so treatments must be spaced out by 2-3 months for the first 3-4 treatments, then able to decrease to every 4-6 months, and less thereafter, or as needed.
Seasonal allergies, such as pollen, ragweed, trees, grass, are generally treated 1-3 times per year, with the first treatment starting a few months prior to season starting. After the first season, only one booster dose may be required annually, given 3 weeks before the season begins.
When will I see results?
Almost immediately, however, the FULL effect and permanent change in immune function may take up to 2 years for severely reactive patients. Most notice sustained improvement after 3-6 doses.
